Neste, a leading global producer of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel, has joined Sustainable Aviation, the UK industry body championing aviation net zero.
The fuel producer is the latest to join a coalition of UK airlines, airports, aerospace manufacturers, fuel producers and other international partners all committed to delivering a more sustainable aviation sector by 2050, and minimising the impact of noise.
Neste brings extensive expertise in producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), a critical component in reducing carbon emissions of air travel and accelerating the industry’s transition to net zero.
By joining Sustainable Aviation, Neste strengthens the coalition’s mission to work as an industry to improve its environmental performance, while creating a balanced debate to ensure sustainable growth of the sector.
Using Neste’s SAF, made from renewable waste and residue raw materials, can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%* over the fuel life cycle
Duncan McCourt, Chief Executive of Sustainable Aviation, said:
“Neste is another great example of a Sustainable Aviation member which is innovating and finding ways to deliver SAF to market.
“Their leadership and commitment will play a vital role in helping achieve our decarbonisation goals. We look forward to their insights and working with them in 2026 and beyond.”
Carl Nyberg, Senior Vice President Commercial at Neste, said:
“Neste has been at the forefront of accelerating SAF production. Our current SAF production and ongoing expansion to 2.2 million tons per annum in 2027, underpin supporting policies and voluntary demand in the UK as well as Europe.
“Working with stakeholders along the aviation value chain is absolutely essential to develop SAF production and availability, and we are pleased to join Sustainable Aviation.”
