Sustainable Aviation, the coalition of UK airlines, airports, manufacturers, and air navigation service providers, has today responded with concern to reports that the Conservative Party plans to scrap the UK’s Climate Change Act.
Duncan McCourt, Chief Executive of Sustainable Aviation said:
“UK aviation continues to support an orderly energy transition. Ditching the framework of the Climate Change Act would be unhelpful to businesses and our members. The long-term cost of inaction vastly outweighs the cost of action today.
“The UK aviation industry is fully committed to decarbonising. Our Roadmap sets a clear plan for how UK aviation can and will reach net zero. Our industry relies on policy stability to make the long-term, multi-billion-pound investment needed to do so.
“This is a plan that delivers for the economy, creates jobs and drives growth, all while significantly reducing the impact on the environment and keeping the cost of flying affordable. The Climate Change Act provides the certainty we need to deliver on that plan.”
