Sustainable Aviation in Scotland

Delivering net zero aviation for Scotland

Sustainable Aviation Scotland brings together Scotland’s aerospace and aviation sectors to accelerate the transition toward a net zero future.

Launched in 2025, we’re guided by four strategic pillars to harness Scotland’s unique strengths and opportunities:

  1. Champion Scotland’s role in UK-wide sustainable aviation efforts
  2. Coordinate Scottish sustainable aviation activity and messaging
  3. Provide a clear mechanism for government engagement with the sector
  4. Drive progress and unlock the full potential of sustainable aviation in Scotland

Our role

We operate within the broader framework of the Sustainable Aviation coalition.

Our members serve as a trusted platform for dialogue, coordination and policy development to ensure Scotland’s distinct capabilities, expertise and ambitions drive the future of sustainable aviation.

Administered by ADS Scotland,  our activities are integrated into broader economic and strategic discussions. We collaborate closely with the Scottish Government, businesses and social enterprise to deliver our four priorities.

We align our work with and respond to key policy developments, including the Scottish Government’s Aviation Statement, Green Industrial Strategy, and Hydrogen Action Plan, among others.

Membership

To drive meaningful progress in sustainable aviation, we maintain connections with established industry groups and initiatives.

Sustainable Aviation Scotland is chaired by Brian McClean, AGS Airports, who also serves on the Scottish Aerospace and Defence Industry Leadership Group.

Our membership reflects a diverse and influential cross-section of the sector, enabling alignment, avoiding duplication, and delivering added value across the ecosystem.
